Product Description
CRP is a positive acute phase reactant present in blood that is expressed in the liver. It is used as a biomarker for cardiovascular and inflammatory disease. It is a pentameric protein comprised of five identical ~ 25 kDa polypeptide chains. On SDS PAGE gels, two bands are apparent. This is due to differential glycosylation of the polypeptide chains. During the acute phase reaction CRP levels increase several 100-fold in dogs. Life Diagnostics also manufactures antigen affinity purified goat anti-dog-CRP (cat. no. 18153) that can be used for immunoassay development.
