Multi-PEGylated KLH (5 kDa mPEG) – added November 15, 2024
We now manufacture KLH that is multi-PEGylated with 5 kDa mPEG (PKLH-02). It is prepared by reaction of a 120-fold molar excess of 5 kDa mPEG succinimidyl valerate with pure KLH. Free mPEG is removed by gel-filtration. It is priced at $800/1 mg.
Trout Precerebellin ELISA – added November 7, 2024
Precerebellin is a positive acute phase protein of 18 kDa found in serum. Its levels increase in Rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon serum during bacterial infections. Dog HSP70 ELISA – added September 16, 2024

Pig Major Acute-Phase Protein (MAP) ELISA – added June 11, 2024
MAP is a positive acute phase protein. Levels in healthy pigs are approximately 1 mg/ml but increase to 10 mg/ml or greater in sick animals. The ELISA (MAP-9) uses two peptide specific antibodies developed at Life Diagnostics. Pricing can be found on the Acute Phase Protein ELISA Kits page.
Trout SAA ELISA – added April 22, 2024
Serum amyloid A is a positive acute phase protein. Its levels increase in Rainbow trout serum during bacterial infections. In studies at Life Diagnostics, levels of ~10 ng/ml were found in serum from healthy trout. Levels were ~300 ng/ml in infected fish. The kit also recognizes Atlantic salmon SAA. Recombinant human cardiac troponin-C – added February 14, 2024
We now manufacture recombinant human cardiac TnC (1306). It is expressed, untagged, in E coli and purified using calcium-dependent affinity chromatography under non-denaturing conditions. It is an excellent alternative to native human cardiac TnC. It can be used to stabilize cardiac troponin-I in immunoassays. It is priced at $300/0.1 mg and $1500/1 mg.
Cat Procalcitonin ELISA – added January 17, 2024
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a biomarker of bacterial infection and sepsis. The ELISA (PCT-8) allows measurement of PCT in serum (we have not tested plasma). It uses two procalcitonin antibodies, and recombinant PCT developed by Life Diagnostics. We found PCT levels of approximately 5 ng/ml in serum from healthy cats, levels as high as 2850 ng/ml were measured in serum from sick cats. Dog Procalcitonin ELISA – added January 12, 2024
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a biomarker of bacterial infection and sepsis. The ELISA (PCT-4) allows measurement of PCT in serum (we have not tested plasma). It uses two dog procalcitonin antibodies, and recombinant dog PCT developed by Life Diagnostics. We found PCT levels of 1-2 ng/ml in serum from healthy dogs, levels as high as 150 ng/ml were measured in serum from sick dogs. Monkey Myeloperoxidase ELISA – added December 12, 2023

Guinea pig SAA ELISA – added September 15, 2023
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is a positive acute phase protein that can be upregulated as much as 1000-fold in mammalian serum due to inflammation or infection. ELISA kit SAA-7 allows easy measurement of SAA in guinea pig serum. Refer to the Acute Phase Protein ELISA kits page for more information.
Cat Paraoxonase ELISA – added August 8, 2023
Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) is considered a useful biomarker of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). Serum levels decrease in cats with FIP, whereas levels of alpha-1-acid glycoprotein increase (we also manufacture a cat AGP ELISA kit, AGP-8). The PON1 ELISA kit (PON1-8) allows measurement of PON1 in serum (we have not yet tested plasma but expect it to be a suitable test matrix). LECT2 (leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 2) is a positive acute phase protein. Its levels increase in Rainbow trout serum during bacterial infections. Trout Fibrinogen ELISA – added June 20, 2023
In trout, we found that plasma fibrinogen levels decreased significantly after bacterial challenge. Fibrinogen may therefore provide a useful biomarker for the assessment of fish health. Pig Haptoglobin monoclonal antibody – added March 21, 2023
We have developed a monoclonal antibody for pig haptoglobin (HAPT-9-11D10). Because of the oligomeric nature of haptoglobin, the antibody can be used in ELISA as both coating and conjugated antibody. Please inquire about pricing.

Trout GDF-15 ELISA – added December 29, 2022
Growth Differentiation Factor-15 (GDF-15) expression increases during inflammation and sepsis. Elevated levels are associated with appetite suppression. In studies at Life Diagnostics, Inc. we found levels of ~5 ng/ml in plasma from healthy trout. Levels as high as 1000 ng/ml were found in plasma from fish infected with F. psychrophilum and Y. ruckeri. Trout Cathelicidin ELISA – added September 8, 2022
Cathelicidin is an antimicrobial protein that increases in rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon plasma during bacterial infections. Levels in healthy trout are ~1 μg/ml; they can increase to ≥ 100 µg/ml during infection. The kit (CATH-23) uses recombinant cathelicidin, and antibodies developed at Life Diagnostics. Trout Vitellogenin ELISA – added August 26, 2022
Vitellogenin is a precursor of egg yolk proteins. It is produced in the liver and transported via the blood to growing oocytes. Its levels increase dramatically in female fish prior to spawning. It has also been reported to behave as a minor acute phase protein and is increased in plasma after exposure to estrogenic pollutants. The kit (VTG-23) uses vitellogenin, and antibodies developed at Life Diagnostics. It can be used for the measurement of vitellogenin in rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon. Sea Turtle MRP-126 ELISA – added August 15, 2022
MRP-126 (S100-A12) is a member of the calgranulin protein family. It is an acute phase protein with antibacterial properties. Troponin-C is a stable 17 kDa protein that is released from muscle damaged by disease or trauma. The salmon skeletal muscle troponin-C ELISA (STNC-19) is specific for the isoform of troponin-C released fast-twitch skeletal muscle. Troponin-C is a stable 17 kDa protein that is released from muscle damaged by disease or trauma. The salmon cardiac troponin-C ELISA (CTNC-19) is specific for the isoform of troponin-C released from cardiac muscle and slow-twitch skeletal muscle. Chicken MRP-126 ELISA kit – added December 16, 2021
MRP-126 is the avian equivalent of the mammalian calgranulin S100A12. It is an acute phase protein that is upregulated in chicken plasma and fecal extracts during bacterial infections. The chicken MRP-126 ELISA kit (MRP-5) was developed at Life Diagnostics using polyclonal antibodies generated against recombinant chicken MRP-126. In fecal extracts, we found levels ranging from 0.01 ug/g in healthy chickens to 14 ug/g in chickens infected with E. maxima. The kit costs $550.
Human and Monkey IgE ELISA kits – added November 12, 2021
Using IgE specific monoclonal antibodies produced at Life Diagnostics, we have developed ELISA kits for human IgE (IGE-20) and monkey IgE (IGE-3-N). Both assays use a co-incubation format and can be completed in less than two hours, including sample preparation time. Kits (96-well) are priced at $500.
Chicken SAA SPARCL™ kit – added August 18, 2021
The chicken serum amyloid A (SAA) SPARCL™ kit (SAA-SP-5) is a 96-well luminescence assay that allows quick and easy measurement of SAA in chicken plasma. Samples (50 μl) and conjugate mixture (25 μl) are co-incubated for 30 minutes in wells of a SPARCL™ microtiter plate. The plate is then inserted into a luminometer and luminescence is measured after injection of trigger solution (37.5 μl/well). A wash-step is not required. SAA concentrations in the samples are derived from a standard curve. SAA is a good inflammatory biomarker in chickens; its levels can increase >50-fold. Elephant SAA ELISA – added August 17, 2021
At the request of one of our customers, we developed an ELISA kit for elephant serum amyloid A (SAA-22). The assay recognizes Indian elephant SAA. We expect it to recognize African elephant SAA too. SAA is an acute phase protein. Serum levels increase during inflammation and disease. The kit can therefore be used to monitor elephant health. KLH is a powerful immunostimulant that is often used as an adjuvant in research studies, and occasionally in clinical applications. Stabilized Human Cardiac Troponin-I – added July 20, 2021
Stabilized human cardiac troponin-I (1230-R) is a mixture of pure recombinant human cardiac troponin-I and pure recombinant rabbit skeletal muscle troponin-C. Troponin-C forms a complex with troponin-I, rendering the latter soluble and protecting it from proteolytic degradation. We use similar formulations to create standards used in our animal cardiac troponin-I ELISA kits. 1230-R is priced at $450/0.1 mg and $4500/1 mg.

Rabbit CRP ELISA, CRP-10-N – added March 19, 2021
We have developed an improved version of our popular rabbit CRP ELISA kit (CRP-10). The new kit (CRP-10-N) uses rabbit CRP IgY antibodies that were generated by injecting chickens with pure rabbit CRP and affinity purified on rabbit-CRP agarose. The standard used in the kit was calibrated to pure rabbit CRP, the concentration of which was determined by absorbance at 280 nm using the known extinction coefficient. Kit CRP-10 will be discontinued when antibodies used in its production are exhausted. Please refer to the kit instructions for more details.
Human Anti-PEG IgM ELISA – added February 15, 2021

Dog Pancreatitis Associated Protein-1 (PAP-1) ELISA – added July 21, 2020
PAP-1 is an acute phase protein. Its expression is very low in healthy pancreatic tissue but increases significantly during acute pancreatitis and other diseases. In studies at LDI, we found that fecal levels of PAP-1 increased significantly in dogs with IBD. The dog PAP-1 ELISA (PAP1-4) uses dog PAP-1 specific antibodies developed at LDI and is calibrated to pure dog PAP-1. It can be used for the measurement of PAP-1 in fecal extracts, serum, and plasma (other fluids have not yet been tested). A single 96-well kit is priced at $550. Volume discounts apply.

Cow SAA3 ELISA – added December 31, 2019
SAA3 is the isoform of serum amyloid A that is present in milk. It is sometimes referred to as milk amyoid A (MAA). Levels increase because of inflammation and infection associated with mastitis. As shown in the graph below, we find that SAA3 levels correlate with somatic cell count (SCC). Increased SCC correlate with decreased milk quality. The cow SAA3 ELISA (SAA3-11) was developed by Veterinary Biomarkers, Inc. It is simpler, faster, more sensitive (5x), and less expensive than other SAA3 ELISA kits. A single kit costs $450.
